Deer food plots are an important part of a successful hunting strategy for several reasons. Good nutrition for the herd is vital to any deer management plan. Buck Forage Oats have been tested again and again since 1991 and rated top for fall preference each season. Additionally, a properly placed and planted deer food plot can attract healthy whitetail bucks for extended periods of time, making hunting easier.

We cant say for sure exactly why deer prefer Buck Forage Oats, but we think that it is because they tend to stay smaller longer. As small grains become larger, they become tougher as the protein content decreases. There is a common misconception that “Oats are Oats”, and that it does not matter which brand is used for deer food plots. In reality, there is a large difference in the way that they grow. “Spring Oats” are cheaper to purchase and are designed to form grain, not forage when used in food plots for deer, and usually freeze out early when compared to “Winter Oats”. Additionally, the digestibility and nutritional composition of the forage is extremely important for healthy deer, particluarly in fall and winter months.

Remember that all oats for are not created equal when talking about deer food plot seeds. Buck Forage Oats are the only deer food plot seed that are specifically bred and registered by grazing deer. All others are mis-represented and don’t measure up to Buck Forage Oats.
